The Tramping Life

One of the best parts of a roadtrip life, has to be, the people you meet along the way. We have met people living all different kinds of lives from first time road trippers to fifty year seasoned vets. Some we remember for years to come and some we forget as soon as we hit the open road again. It's a kind of kinship though, a temporary connection among like minded people exchanging information for the benefit of the tramping community. These last few days, we've met some lovely people here and there...

This is Dominic Gill. In 2006 he bought a tandem bike and BOB and road from Alaska to Argentina giving free rides to people along the way. He had over sixty passengers that stayed with him anywhere from three days to three weeks. Now, in 2010, he's taking disabled or ill people on trips for 500 miles at a time, across the country. We ran into him in a campground when he pulled in with his specially built tandem. He gave the boys a ride while his girlfriend and I (sag wagon driver) talked countries and trips. We bonded for only an hour but it was just another one of those moments. Great guy, great idea and here's a link to his current project if you want to know more and please donate!!!! www.domandernie.com
