A Week in the Michigan Upper Peninsula

What we mainly did this past week is canoe, everywhere we could find. This is Trout Lake where we spent a whole day attempting to catch a fish with no luck.

Glass Bottom Boat tour of Lake Superior Shipwrecks. Really fantastic as you could see everything, even without the boat as the water was so clear. These boats were 200 year old container ships of salt and iron ore. Can you see the anchor?

This is a pasty which is pie crust wrapped around meat, potatoes, carrots and egg, baked and then covered with gravy. Yummy, oh so yummy!

The Upper Peninsula is a beautiful place filled with wolves, moose and tons of lakes. I would like to return on bike as it's all flat with many places to camp along the way. It was hard to say good-bye to Michigan as I fell in love with the state. It is beautiful, rural, evolved and pristine. I'm not sure about the winters though.

  1. I agree completely about Michigan. We spent 7 weeks there, just crossing over into Wisconsin today. I miss Michigan already - although WI is nice, too! But the wildness of the U.P. - what a sweet place to summer.

    Safe travels,
    Laurie
