Fort Loon

For at least two years now, Ryder and Maretta have talked about building a treehouse together. They would talk on the phone for hours planning how many rooms it would have and how they would get furniture into it. Last Christmas Ryder made one for Maretta out of popsickle sticks to hang in her room and even painted one in the school bus.

Loon island had a decrepit old treehouse that Ryder and Maretta and Steve spent some time solidifying with walls, windows, a bucket on a pulley, mailboxes and a mosquito net.

They named her Fort Loon!

The last night on the island, two best friends slept in their treehouse staying up late telling stories and watching the last of the fireworks together, mission accomplished!

  4. Hi, I just read your entire blog. My husband, kids and I have been talking about doing pretty much what you have done with the bus conversion, hitting the road and living free. My one main concern is money to live. can you give me any advice on what you do for money while on the road. Thanks. "D"
