Yellowstone with some BS

Sixteen years ago, I worked outside of Yellowstone for the summer. I was single and free and drank too much wine, flirted with cowboys, rode horses and spent the summer enjoying the mountains and lakes. To return with children brought a different element to the experience as I learned more about the history and geology of Yellowstone that I didn't think about it when I was younger. To see Old Faithful lodge with the boys and watch them check-out the woodwork and etched glass or tube the Norris river or play homesteader and pioneer made me realize how rich of a life it is to be seen through the eyes of a child. It was fantastic to meet up with Ben and Shannon again and realize that there truly is a comfort in finding your people on the road. They are relaxed and easy going travelers that find the joy in sitting in an ancient lodge for hours on end, drinking cocktails and watching life go by. Sadly it was cold when they visited but the moment they left, the sun returned and we changed into shorts and t-shirts. Now we are off to Portland again for some much needed time off and to re-charge our batteries, literally.
